[FOR THE TREATMENT OF INDIGESTION, WIND & HEARTBURN] When activated charcoal is taken orally, it is dispersed throughout the digestive system, as it passes naturally through our digestive system substances are bound to the particles of activated charcoal forming a complex. Activated charcoal does not alter the chemistry of the body and does not form complexes with nutrients or minerals or food supplements.
[J L Bragg's Medicinal Charcoal] tablets are made from [activated charcoal] and produced from coconut shells which has been purified for use as a pharmaceutical active ingredient, commercial forms of charcoal or activated charcoal which are not approved for pharmaceutical applications may contain byproducts which may cause harm. If you are using prescribed medications J L Bragg's recommend that you discuss the use of activated charcoal with your medical adviser. [Bragg's] tells us that charcoal tablets give 100% relief of indigestion, wind and heartburn and certainly after 150 years, you'd think they've had long enough to gather feed back and evidence. They're certainly one of the most popular supplements in our store. I tend to think that charcoal is more popular among the older age groups because their digestive systems are weaker and in need of more support, but that age group of course know it as one of the few products from around the war that they could easily find. Nevertheless, it's effectiveness has ensured its continued popularity today. The good thing about charcoal tablets is that they are safe, although those using conventional drugs should let their doctors know because the charcoal can lessen the effect of medication, they absorb quite a bit in the digestive system. They are also easy to take, after a meal, and easy to carry around. So they're highly convenient with all age groups especially when you find yourself in a restaurant or socialising with family and friends.

[Frequently Asked Questions:]
[Q What are the benefits of using Charcoal Tablets?] A One of the benefits of taking Medicinal Charcoal as opposed to other products on the market is that because it is not a drug, it has no direct action on any organ of the body, it does not enter the blood stream nor is the charcoal itself adsorbed into your body. All of it passes out of your system along with the toxins and gases it has collected on its journey. If you are already on medication it would be wise to consult your doctor or pharmacist as the Medicinal Charcoal may adsorb other medicines and lessen their effect.
[Q Are Charcoal Tablets suitable for vegetarians?] A Yes. All the ingredients are from vegetable sources. Activated Charcoal is from coconut.
[Q What is the best way to take the tablets?] A Charcoal Tablets are most effective if taken shortly after a meal or when the problem arises. They can be swallowed, chewed, taken with liquid or other food; the important thing is that the charcoal reaches the stomach where it can absorb the toxins and gases that have built up within the digestion system and in the course of time pass them naturally and easily out of the system.
[Q My stools have turned black, is this normal?] A Yes, there is nothing to worry about, it is a sure sign that the charcoal has passed through your digestive system.
[Q May I take them with other medicines or Paracetamol?] A The charcoal may adsorb or lessen the effect of the medicine. We suggest that you consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are on medication.
[Q May I take them while pregnant or nursing a baby?] A Yes, they may be taken during pregnancy and breast feeding.
[Q Why do Charcoal Tablet drums often contain a residue of black "dust"?] A To do their job effectively, the Charcoal Tablets cannot be coated as most tablets are, therefore as the tablets rub against each other in the drum, a little surface dust is rubbed off. These tablets have to be able to dissolve in the stomach within 15 minutes, and so are rather soft by nature. - Poor digestion {blog/poor-digestion%3F~1772> - [Click here.}]

We will endeavour to despatch all orders within 24 hours. If some or all items are unavailable, then we will contact you before shipping.

Other Important Information
Where it is not possible for Royal Mail to deliver your order, it will be held at your local Royal Mail office for 5 days before being returned to us. To contact your local sorting office to arrange re-delivery or collection, please call 08457 740 740 in the UK.
We would advise that you check your local sorting office before contacting us if delivery has taken more than seven working days in the UK and Overseas, although overseas customers may have to wait up to two weeks.
If your order has been 'lost in the post’, it will only be investigated 17 working days after it was shipped because it is only after this period that the Royal Mail regards postage as officially lost.
European customers should note that in some rare occasions parcels do appear to take longer than usual to arrive and in such occasions it may be necessary to wait longer before further action is taken. This is largely because of the varied quality of postal services throughout Eurozone countries.
After the post office has completed its investigations, it will subsequently refund Elixir for the value of the parcel and postage and package. Upon receiving our costs from the post office your replacement parcel will then be re-sent, or your costs reimbursed if the product is no longer required. Customers are therefore advised to request signed for deliveries to ensure full tracking opportunities.
