THE MUSHROOM GLYCERITES
THE CONCEPT:
Over the last few years it seems as though companies involved in producing mushroom supplements have been engaged in an “arms race” of sorts, with each company trying to outdo the other in terms of how many beta-glucans or other of the important constituents of mushrooms end up in their supplements. The problem with this “pharmaceutical” approach to herbal extracts is that you end up with standardised or concentrated extracts that bear little similarity to the whole natural herb. You end up with a pharmaceutical!
This approach distracts us from the fact that these mushrooms have thousands of years of use; their reputations growing way beyond other herbs and medicines. Reishi for example, has been practically worshipped thanks to its reliability and effectiveness. All this incredible history was not based on pharmaceutical extraction or concentrating and isolating active components…it was based on simply making tea from them! Boiling them in water, simple hot water extraction.
So, what we have done with our extracts is to take a step back in time, to traditional methods using whole mushroom fruiting bodies cultivated on organic substrate. Our mushrooms are extracted by the traditional hot water extract and then mixed into a base of vegetable glycerine. Deliberately moving away from pharmaceutically manipulated extracts and back to whole, food state mushroom extracts, as it was done for centuries.
CHAGA
“Siberian Superfood”
Chaga is found widely in the forests of Eastern Europe and Russia as well as the northern forests of Europe, the US and Canada. In areas of Russia and Poland it has been used as a traditional medicine for a range of serious conditions and as a general preventative for various illnesses since at least the 12th century. It is held in such high esteem by some groups of indigenous peoples of Siberia, such as the Khanty people, that they see it as a miraculous cure all, even incorporating it into normal daily rituals. Chaga even got a mention in Alexander Solzhenitsyn’s 1967 semi-autobiographical novel, “The Cancer Ward”. This book was probably the springboard for Chaga’s introduction to western Europe from the east.
During the 1950’s Chaga became an official medicine in Russia, and it still exists there as the product Befungin.
The active components of Chaga once again include triterpenoids and beta-glucans and it is thought the chaga actually takes some of its active chemicals from the trees it grows on. It has historically been used for its immune system stimulating effects, called upon to treat all sorts of infections and more serious conditions that could benefit from a ramped up immune system.
Our Chaga is once again cultivated on wood to simulate its natural environment.

If your order has been 'lost in the post’, it will only be investigated 17 working days after it was shipped because it is only after this period that the Royal Mail regards postage as officially lost.
European customers should note that in some rare occasions parcels do appear to take longer than usual to arrive and in such occasions it may be necessary to wait longer before further action is taken. This is largely because of the varied quality of postal services throughout Eurozone countries.
After the post office has completed its investigations, it will subsequently refund Elixir for the value of the parcel and postage and package. Upon receiving our costs from the post office your replacement parcel will then be re-sent, or your costs reimbursed if the product is no longer required.
