Water Filter FAQ
Water Filter FAQ
What is the filter made from?
Our gravity water filter is made from high-quality stainless steel, making it durable, hygienic, and free from plastic leaching. It's built to last for years with proper care.
Is a stainless steel tap available?
Yes! We offer a stainless steel tap as an optional upgrade, giving you a fully plastic-free setup. You can find it listed as a separate product on our site.
Is a stainless steel base available?
Yes, we also offer a stainless steel base to complete your setup and keep your filter stable and looking great on your worktop.
How do the filters work?
Water passes through a multi-stage ceramic and carbon filtration process using gravity — no electricity or plumbing required. The ceramic outer shell removes bacteria, sediment, and cysts, while the inner carbon core reduces chlorine, heavy metals, pesticides, and other contaminants, leaving you with clean, great-tasting water.
Does it remove limescale?
The filter reduces certain minerals that contribute to limescale, but it is not specifically designed as a water softener. If you live in a hard water area, you may still notice some limescale build-up in kettles and appliances over time. For full limescale removal, a dedicated water softener would be needed alongside the filter.
How long do the filter candles last?
Filter candles typically last 6–12 months depending on your water quality and usage. We recommend replacing them at least once a year to maintain optimal filtration performance.
How do I clean and maintain the filter?
The ceramic filter candles can be scrubbed gently under cold running water to remove surface build-up and extend their life. The stainless steel body can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Avoid using soap or detergents inside the filter chambers.
How much water can it filter per day?
Flow rate depends on your water pressure and the condition of the filter candles, but typically a gravity filter will produce several litres per hour. Keeping the candles clean helps maintain a good flow rate.
Is it suitable for tap water in the UK?
Yes, it is designed for use with mains tap water. It is particularly beneficial in areas with heavily chlorinated or hard water supplies.
Do I need a plumber to install it?
No — the filter works entirely by gravity and requires no plumbing or installation. Simply fill the upper chamber with tap water and let gravity do the work.
