Detoxification, or detox, generally refers to the process of removing toxins from the body whether it be from high-living, substance use, enviromental pollution, religious reasons, stress and many health changes.
Unless you're in a vulnerable group detoxing once or twice a year can be useful. Sometimes easing up on the food intake, including taking a light fast ought to be enough but for others going on a program for 7 to 15 days is better. However you choose to detox, and the reasons often match the methods, take care and don't be severe, unless working with a practitioner. A bowel cleanse is often a good way to begin.
